For Science, we're using our shadows to help us learn about the different seasons and the how the height of the sun changes during the seasons. When it is winter the sun drops faster and the temp goes down but we still have 24 hours in a day, but in the summer it is opposite the sun is high and the temp goes up but the shadow gets smaller. The tilt of the earth also affects the length of the shadow. The temp is effected by the height of the sun. Seasons also effect our shadow because if it's in the winter the temp is colder and your shadow gets longer and when it's in the summer it is warmer so your shadow gets smaller. We are using a meter stick on the cm side because we are using it for the length of the shadow and cm are part of the metric system. We are measuring the length of us and the length of the shadow. The change of the seasons affects the shadows length.
What's happening to the length of your shadow during this time of year in your part of the world? What is your location? Is your shadow getting longer or shorter?
