Food Coloring Dyes and their Affects on Plants - Explanation and Set-up
We are currently experimenting which dyes are dangerous. The food coloring that we are using is usual food coloring that we usually use in baking. We are testing this on an ivy plant. The brand of food coloring we are using is McCormick. The dye colors we are using are red, blue, green, and yellow. We gave each plant 60 ml of water with 8 drops of food coloring. Day 1: On day 1, we noticed no change in the plants that received green, blue, or yellow food coloring. We did notice one of the stems on the red plant start to fall. All 4 plants looked green and healthy. Day 2: On day 2 ,we noticed that the green and blue are still healthy and they both didn't have change. The yellow plant is starting to have leaves fall off the plant and it does not have any change for the colors of the leaves. The red plant has no change for the color of the leaves but one of the branches is starting to fall off. We gave each plant an additional 60 ml of water with 8 drops of food coloring. By,Felicity Hahl and Jennifer villarreal |
